TRI’s project in Tanzania is focused on enhancing natural resource management and landscape restoration across several key basins, including Great Ruaha, Lake Rukwa, and Malagarasi. These areas are critical for the country’s water supply, biodiversity, and local livelihoods, but have been severely impacted by unsustainable land use practices. The project aims to strengthen national capacities for sustainable restoration by implementing integrated landscape management practices in targeted districts. Key activities include reforestation, agroforestry, and sustainable agriculture, all aimed at restoring degraded lands and enhancing the resilience of local ecosystems. The project also emphasizes the importance of knowledge sharing and capacity-building, working with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote best practices in landscape restoration. By building resilient socioecological systems through coordinated FLR interventions, the project contributes to national and regional restoration goals, while also supporting the livelihoods of local communities that depend on these vital ecosystems.
