Central African Republic
Project Information
In the Central African Republic (CAR), TRI is implementing innovative approaches to sustainable land management to address the severe forest degradation driven by unsustainable agricultural practices and overexploitation of timber resources. The project focuses on restoring degraded lands through a combination of public-private partnerships and direct community engagement. A key component involves rehabilitating abandoned agricultural areas to restore soil fertility and biodiversity. Furthermore, the project is conducting extensive biodiversity mapping, particularly in the southern provinces, to guide conservation efforts and prioritize areas for restoration. This mapping will inform the development of a national restoration strategy, ensuring that efforts are targeted where they will have the greatest ecological and socio-economic impact. By promoting sustainable practices and restoring vital ecosystems, the project aims to create resilient landscapes that support both biodiversity and local livelihoods.
