Kenya (Tana Delta)
Project Information
In the Tana Delta region of Kenya, TRI is implementing a comprehensive approach to integrated natural resource management aimed at restoring degraded landscapes and promoting sustainable livelihoods. The project builds on a land-use plan developed with the participation of local communities and authorities, which identifies priority areas for restoration and sustainable management. Key activities include value chain development, private sector investment in sustainable enterprises, and participatory forest management, all aimed at enhancing the ecological and economic resilience of the region. The project also focuses on scaling up successful practices to other priority landscapes in Kenya, ensuring that the benefits of integrated natural resource management are widely shared. By promoting sustainable forest management, the project contributes to national restoration goals and supports the livelihoods of communities that depend on the Tana Delta’s natural resources. The project also emphasizes the importance of building strong partnerships among local communities, government agencies, and the private sector to ensure the long-term sustainability of restoration efforts.
